"Little" Former Swiftie Wins Nats

Hi All,

Michael won the Junior Men's 13-14 National Championship road race two days ago, here in Bend Oregon.  We are super happy and proud of him. It was super hot(95 degrees) and a tough and hilly 40 km (25 mile) course (7 laps of a 5 km circuit plus 2.5 km in and out to the circuit).  From the 60 starters 7 boys formed a group about half way through, and Michael said that he could tell he was probably the strongest of these 7.  On the 2.5 km back to the finish they shed 4 riders and then 1 more, so Michael was left with a 2 up sprint for the line.  Michael won this handily, giving him lots of time to celebrate before the line.

Here are a few pics from the race.  More can be found at my facebook page:

 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=21014&id=1615523308&saved#/album.php?aid=21014&id=1615523308&ref=nf

And many more of Michael and the team at the Slipstream facebook page:
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=50642&id=1759480375#/album.php?aid=4109&id=1759480375

The time trial is tomorrow, and criterium Saturday.

Cheers,
Dan

*Buddy and Portia where pretty disappointed in the tour to the St. Bernard.  Not enough coverage of the dogs rescuing kids.  http://d.yimg.com/i/ng/sp/p5/20090721/12/3934408968.jpg
Luisa - Does watching the tour count as training?

Swift Big Ride Week - July 6 to July 10

Swift Big Ride Week - July 6 to July 10
Al got a week off of work mentioned doing a Big Ride from Monday July 6 to Friday July 10.  I think I'm in. I think Sharon is in.  More the Merrier.
It would be either self support or Van support with people taking turns driving.  If Van support, we will do camping along the way.  I vote for Van support as we can bring more food and drinks!
Pace - Whatever you want.  Will have regroups and stops at stores.
Cost - Cheap!  Spend money on food, drink and bike stuff.

Open to All - email Al or Me if interested.

Route?  5 Day Idea #1...  Depending on Camping/Lodging locations...
1. Colorado City to Wetmore - 43 Miles - (so around 38 to Chrisplip place) - Lots of Climbing.  Or Start/Finish in Wetmore with out and back route.
2. Wetmore to Salida - ~ 75 Miles - Minor Climbing - 24 Miles on US 50.  I think has a small shoulder by river.
3. Salida to Saguache (46 Miles) to Campground near North Pass ~70 Miles - Medium Climbing
4. Campground near of North Pass to Gunny  ~80 Miles - One Climb over North Pass, then down to Gunny.
5. Gunny to Buena Vista - 67 Miles - Climbing!!! - (Then 2.5 hour drive home)
Approx - 335 Miles - Minus car shuttle miles.  Could increase depending on actual camping locations.

Friday Happy Hour; Saturday MTB Ride

home.

Fwd: Sunday B Ride

Hello all,

I am willing to lead a "B" ride for this Sunday March 1.
 Vic's at 10:00 a.m.
Duration: 4 hours (I always give options for shorter route)

Route: According to the wind and actual temperature:
Bismark Loop + Ncar (short option : Loop back when we get to Marshall)
or Carter Lake if windy (shorter route : small box)

Note: Since Meeting notes have not been sent out yet, I just briefly explain that we decided to hold
2 types of rides on Sundays. They are not divided by gender rather by Cycling Ability, mainly PACE
Type "A" for faster pace to meet needs and expectation of riders who are stronger, faster and train to compete
Type "B" for moderate pace (16-20 mph) yet long ride: it will always be provided options for shorter route.

I always hope to see many of you ....

 Ciao
 Luisa

Fwd: Swift Cycling Adopt A Road Cleanup THIS SATURDAY, 11/1, 10 AM

For Saturday, 11/1/2008
Hello Fellow Swifties,

It's that time again to go clean up our stretch of Nelson Road.  Let's meet at Vic's at 10 am and carpool from there.  Or meet us out there at 63rd and Nelson, if you are going separately.  We have had great turnout the last couple of times..let's do it again.  More hands makes it more fun and less work!  For those of you who have not done this before, come on out!  It's part of what makes Swift a unique club...community service.  Great way to get to know other riders that you may not have had a chance to really talk to before.  It takes one to two hours max.  The City requires us to have each watched their video on trash and safety.  Please do this before Saturday.  Go to http://www.bouldercounty.org/transportation/adopt_a_road.htm  and at the bottom of that page is a section called Links.  There are two videos you need to watch..one on safety and one on meth lab recognition.

I will be bringing waiver forms as required by the city for everyone to sign. Please RSVP so I can be sure to bring enough.

Thanks for all you do,

Jenny

1:30 pm
Meet at Cafe Sole

Might still be shorts and ss jersey weather!  Jeff

Saturday MTB ride - Walker Ranch/Super Walker

I am going to ride up to Walker Ranch on Saturday morning. My plan is to leave my house at about 7:30, be at the base of Flagstaff at about 7:45, and be at the Walker Ranch parking lot at about 9:00. I will ride out to the walking section and depending on my mental state (I hate walking down the stairs), I will will either continue on around or do an out and back to the parking lot, and then back home over Flagstaff. If I am feeling feisty, and I have the time, I might ride on over 68J up to Magnolia and back down that way - this would be the "Super Duper Walker Ranch" option.

Feel free to meet me at any of those points to ride if you would like.

Steve

Sunday, 10/19, Ride at 9:00 am

Sunday, 10/19, we will leave Vics (IRIS & 30th) at 9:00.  Doing a 'casual' pace to Lefthand Canyon to Ward.  Bring some warm gloves and jacket for decent back down...

Stephen

Friday MTB Ride

Ken and I are going to do Hall Ranch and maybe some of Picture Rock on Friday
Meet at Lyon's Visitor Center at 1:00 pm - I can carpool with somebody from Boulder if needed...
- Rest of the weekend looks good for movies and beer...
Stephen

Lyon's visitor center works fine.  I'll try to park on Railroad Street which is on the south side of the green that surrounds the visitor center.  The skate park on Railroad has some parking too.
