Upcoming Rides 8/24 to Labor Day
Thursday Night - Speed Ride - Flat and Semi-Fast - 5:45 at Vics
Sunday - I plan to combine Sunshine, Flagstaff and NCAR climbs in some way to approximate the Gore Pass course. I'm thinking of starting at 9 with
Sunshine. Pace will be less than race speed, but still a good effort. Let me know if you're interested. Jeff
Labor DayThe third big climbing ride will take place over the Labor Day weekend. Most likely the ride will be on Monday. The route will be Sunshine Canyon, Sugarloaf, P to P to Ward, Super Jamestown and back to Boulder via Left Hand Canyon.
Stay tuned for more details.

Sunday - 9:00 at Vics - Roll out on the bike path, shouldn't be any ice this time of the year...
End of ride Beer at Southern Sun?

Carter Lake Cancelled; Gore Pass Pre-Ride
Bummer about Carter Lake Road Race being cancelled. As a former promoter of it, I can see why. Busy road, espically in the summer. Only time it wasn't busy was when it was cold and wet in the spring. Would be a great Fall Classic, if we didn't start cross season so darn early in Colorado. I would love to race it at the end of September with clear skys and temps in the 70s...
Gore Pass Pre-Ride: I am heading up and pre-riding Gore Pass on Saturday. Leaving Boulder in the AM and should start ride on top of Gore Pass around 10:30. Head down Pass to Wolford and then do the course. email me if interested.

Junior State Crit - Silver Medal by Micheal in the 10-12

16 boys and 4 girls aged 10-12 lined up for the 20 minute race, which was designated as the Colorado State Junior Criterium Championship. Within the first lap a front group of 8 boys immediately formed. Michael was feeling strong and stayed in the front three the entire race, but neither he nor anyone else could get away from the "pack". A couple of last-ditch attacks on the last lap shed a few more boys, and it was five or six together for the final slightly downhill sprint.
Brady Barker from RMCEF took the gold by a full bike length with time enough to raise both arms, and Michael beat the third place boy by half a wheel. Michael was under-geared for the sprint, and hopes to challenge perennial winner Barker in the future. Both are 10 years old and so will be looking strong for the coming years.
Here's a picture of the podium. Brady won $10 for his efforts while Michael won a brand new $50 bike messenger bag!
Cheers,
Daddy (Dan) Dessau

For your viewing pleasure - High Lonesome Trail
Hey all,
Thought that I would post a few pictures of a MTB ride (High Lonesome Trail, east of Tabernash) I did last weekend. The columbines were in bloom like crazy, and amazingly, during July 4th weekend, I didn't see another rider on this trail, and only encountered a few riders on Tipperary Creek.

Epic Mountain Ride - Saturday - May 27
Mark your calendars. The first edition of the Epic Mountain Rides will be this Sat (5/27). We will leave Vic's at either 7:30 or 8:00. I will confirm the departure time a bit later this week, depending on the feedback I receive.
The route: Not exactly the Giro, but pretty good nonetheless. Flagstaff, Gross Rez, Coal Creek, Peak to Peak, Eldora, Brainard Lake, Ward, Boulder. Of course there will be regroups at various points. This is not a race, but rather an opportunity to get in some great climbing and build solid endurance.
Let me know if your in.
